Real Wedding Feature-Rosemery and Brian

At Your Door Events

How will 2018 top 2017? Because let me tell you, 2017 had it going on! We did so many amazing weddings and events and learned so much during the process. It's humbling to be doing this for so long and still genuinly love it!

Normally it's impossible to select a favorite wedding of the year, but this time, it's pretty easy. My favorite wedding of 2017 is my little sister, Rosemery's wedding. It's my favorite because Rosemery and Brian refuse to follow tradition for the sake of it. Everything they did for this celebration was authentic to their love story. Rosemery and Brian are free spirits who wanted to host a big party in the woods. Yes, the woods. I'm not going to lie, when we first started to scout locations, I was nervous. The woods seemed like a logistically tricky place to host a party with lots of unknown variables (Mother Nature can turn so quickly!).  Thankfully, they found an amazing spot in the Redwood Forest. Not only did they pull it off, but it was the funnest party I've ever been to! Here is what I observed and took away from it:

  • The getting ready moment should be free of cell phones with lots of champagne
  • My sister read us her vows in the morning and and we all ugly cried. Not cute but necessary. At the ceremony, she was composed and got throuh them with ease. Reading them out-loud before, I think, helped.
  • Instead of bouquets, she gave us rings and bracelets made out of succulents. So brilliant!
  • Ceremony bride entrance song was to Beyonce of course (Because Cannon D was not her jam)
  • Our mom naturally wanted to invite about 500 people but my sister stuck to her guns and only 50 guest were invited. Since it was so intimate they had the chance to spend quality time with each of their guest.
  • The decor included a hand made "Papel Picado" that they spent days cutting together.
  • The flower girl was the friend who introduced them
  • Blankets were given out as a favor to make sure guest were cozy (Shout out to Mother Nature for the beautiful weather).
  • Lots of yummy drinks and tons of food
  • They skipped the formal cake cutting and guest rushed their favorite cookie table
  • Since they didn't do any traditinal formalities, it was all about dancing! Lots of dancing!
